The Eternal Dark Ground of Existence in Schelling's "freiheitschrift" of 1809

The treatise about the Essence of Human Freedom of Schelling is of an unusual complexity, since in this text certain intuitions take place that seems not to be still elucidated completely by the author, which makes the exposition of his theses more ambiguous and tumultuous and, consequently, more laborious his interpretation. Following the development of the ideas and themes of this book, the deep meaning of the concept of ground (Grund) will be examined in the present paper, to clarify its meaning, speculative force and philosophical importance.
