Abstract

In his criticism of Modernity, Heidegger seems to afirm that man has been able to install himself, thanks to the sciences, above nature and, due to the kindness of technique, above man himself. This situation would be possible because man no longer thinks the world, but calculates it in the manner of representation. This article explores how representation became the metaphysical foundation of the Modern Era and in which manner modern sciences and Cartesian metaphysics influenced the gestation of this new manner of “thinking".
