Abstract

We begin with Husserl, who influences Heidegger and hermeneutics. In Phenomenology and Theory of Knowledge he develops a speculation on the principles of knowledge. Phenomenology imports a double relativistic derivation. Under «pure» phenomenology, all true science is developed a priori, as in Kant, but in such a way as to take upon itself everything that is «possible». From an epistemological point of view, science thus loses its regulation by the object, the second being constituted by the first. The world of the sensible is no beginning for the knowledge of the intellect; it becomes rather an obstacle to be overcome to achieve «pure» science. In Gadamer we find a super —relativism, synthesized in the surpassing of the opposition between relativism and systematic philosophy, which would place us in the field peculiar to «theology». The influx of hermeneutics in Catholic theology is harmful insomuch as it
implies an opposition to metaphysics, and purports to replace authentic mysticism.
