Human liberty implies the government of one's own conduct, and one should account for its use and assume the consequences. This is precisely what constitutes the ownership we have over this conduct and over the things which this conduct affects, in other words, possessions or attributes that are under our control. And we are bound to be accountable for this liberty and its consequences because we are drawn towards the perfection correspondent to our nature; that is to say, the political common good. This is the reason why not every use of our liberty and possessions is necessarily good. With misuse we can cause harm and thus be obliged to make amends. The purpose of this paper is to explain the extent and contents of this responsibility.References
