Nazism à la Nietzsche (and vice versa)? Hermeneutical Bases to Reject a Spurious Appropriation

The Nietzschean corpus contains fragments that seem compatible with some of the fundamental theses of Nazism. However, a thorough understanding of his philosophy demonstrates that this interpretation constitutes a misappropriation, especially when considering Nietzsche’s life as a key methodological element for interpreting his work. A critical analysis of this reading leads to the conclusion that it is not possible to attribute affinities between Nazism and Nietzsche’s philosophy in general, nor with the Overman (Übermensch) in particular.
