Music had a central place in the cultural life of Ancient Greece. It wasn't just the first of arts, as its name expresses; due to the diversity of its local forms, it became part of the identity of the greek póleis. Hence, some political authors establish it expressly as a tool to sustain the common good. The present article attempts an approach to this way of understanding music in the political context.References
