Abstract

Después de caracterizar a un monismo emergentista, paso a analizar el ensayo de Hilary Putman Brains in a vat y señalo un par de lecturas que se pueden hacer de la posibilidad neocartesiana de ser un cerebro que flota en una probeta conectado con un computador que opera un científico maligno. Indico que esta eventualidad es solo formal hoy en día, porque no se ha legrado levantar cartografía de los estados cerebrales y su asociación con estados mentales y corporales. Sostengo que el argumento de S. Kripke en contra de la identidad entre estados mentales y estados corporales podría generalizarse bajo la hipótesis de un ser divino para refutar una forma de identidad caso-a-caso, según lo cual el dolor no sería un suceso corporal sino "espiritual". Sin embargo al estar sustentada por una hipótesis teísta, bien podría dar lugar a una forma de monismo antes que a un dualismo.
