The present article has as aim indicate the procedure that Jean Paul Sartre carries out in his first philosophical work, The transcendence of ego. In our opinion, this work, like Being and Nothing, has as its methodological foundation the so-called "phenomenological ontology". In order to substantiate this thesis we point out that the transcendent ego and the cogito have the same ontological meaning as being-in-itself and being-for-itself.References
